Description
The DTM or Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters is Germany’s most prestigious motor racing series and was won by Bernd Schneider in 2003 driving a Mercedes Benz CLK. To celebrate this achievement, Mercedes Benz introduced a limited edition of 100 CLK DTM Coupes modelled on the most successful car of the series, the Mercedes Benz CLK German Touring Masters race car
The DTM coupes were so prized by collectors that in 2007 Mercedes Benz produced a limited run of 80 CLK DTM Convertibles
Although visually similar to the well-known CLK Black series, the DTM is fundamentally superior.
It was hand assembled in close conjunction with AMG and HWA, one of the top DTM teams who were responsible for the assembly of the Mercedes Benz CLK DTM race cars.
The DTM is powered by a 5.5l Supercharged AMG V8 producing 582 HP, 100 BHP more than the CLK Black series.
This was achieved by re-engineering components such as the crankcase, valve gear, pistons, cooling, intake manifold, supercharger and exhaust system
The suspension was redesigned with the front track widened by 74mm and the rear by 110mm.
The aggressive exterior styling was refined in the wind tunnel (Split rear diffuser – carbon fibre rear wing – deep front spoiler – flared wheel arched to fit the large AMG alloy wheels).
Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h was 4 seconds and the top speed was over 320 km/h, at the time the world’s fastest open top four seater car
THIS EXAMPLE:
This Iridium Silver example is one of only 80 Convertible CLK DTM’s produced worldwide with far fewer right hand drive examples. It has been in single ownership for the past 11 years, has only covered 14000km since new
This represents a rare opportunity to secure one of the most collectible Mercedes Benz models ever produced
