The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters had a fresh look for 2012. Two-door coupé body styles returned, as did BMW—the marque back on the grid after the best part of 20 years, following its Works foray into Formula 1. Mercedes-AMG, meanwhile, in replacing its four-door C-Class racer, once again turned to motorsport partner HWA to develop its new C-Coupé.
To prevent spiralling costs, the carbon fibre monocoque was a common part to all cars; each one was constructed by GERG Gruppe. Fitted with a naturally aspirated V-8 engine developing nigh on 500 PS and mated to a semi-automatic paddle-shift sequential transmission, chassis number V35-035 was readied in time for the 2014 campaign.
Returning to the DTM after a three-year stint in F1, 2010 series champion Paul di Resta was entrusted by the HWA team to drive this C-Coupé. He snared a trio of 4th place finishes (at Oschersleben, the Nürburgring, and in the final race at Hockenheim). The Scot was back behind the wheel of this chassis the following year, climbing to 8th in the points courtesy of chalking a podium finish and fastest lap in the curtain-raising round at Hockenheim.
A third campaign beckoned for the car in 2016. Per correspondence with HWA, it was updated to the later W205-style silhouette and handed over to Maximilian Götz. The endurance racing pro, who would clinch the 2021 DTM crown, scored a best result of 4th in the first of two races in Moscow.
HWA sold this car to the consigning owner in June 2018. It now presents with W204-generation bodywork and in the #3 livery, as used by di Resta for 2015. The Mercedes-AMG is accompanied by its DMSB Wagenpass issued in April 2014 and an HWA engine operation manual.
The car is supported by a spares package that includes four wheel rims, a set of slick tyres with rims, four wet tyres, a wrench set, a nitrogen pressure regulator kit with cylinder rack, and more.
