"The SL model has been part of the Mercedes-Benz line-up since 1954. The first generation of cars was completed in 1955 with the 190. The second generation began with the 230 in 1963 and was distinguished by its distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname ‘Pagoda top’. The factory codename for the SL launched in 1971 was R107. This model enjoyed an impressive build run until 1989, the second longest in the German manufacturers history. Over its eighteen-year reign, the R107 range was powered by no less than eight different engines, two sizes of straight-six unit and six versions of V8’s.
Originally manufactured in March 1989, this stunning SL Mercedes-Benz is offered in one of the best colour combinations for the R107, metallic Nautical Blue with a tan leather interior and a blue fabric softtop, all of which are in lovely condition as you would expect from a car with so few miles. This car was owned by Heather Small of 'M People' and has spent much of its life garaged. The more desirable 300 SL specification was further enhanced from new with optional cruise control, leather interior, heat insulating glass and full paintwork preservation treatment from the dealership some £3,000 of options in today's money. Offered to auction with a well stamped service book serviced by main dealers only and a file containing various invoices, a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until September 2020. A fabulous example with incredibly low mileage, celebrity provenance and in such lovely condition, this impressive Mercedes-Benz is a ready to use modern classic.
