This iconic Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster was delivered on August 25, 1960 in Braunschweig, Germany. So it is not an American import. There is nothing wrong with that in itself, but many enthusiasts simply prefer an original European delivery.

A thick map with, among other things, various documents, the Wagenkarte, invoices and overviews of owners, provide an extensive overview of the history. This shows that the SL was registered in Germany until March 2021. Recently it became a Dutch ‘resident’.

The overall immaculate condition is, of course, due to the dedicated owners over the years, and the technicians who, until very recently, have been able to showcase their skill and professionalism in what is by many classic car enthusiasts the “ultra” classic car.

The documentation also describes that in the period 1984-1987 the SL was extensively restored and that the mileage until then was only 8000 km. So very low mileage, but nevertheless an excellently executed restoration was considered necessary. In 2007 the car was again overhauled by a German SL specialist and in addition to, among other things, the installation of disc brakes at the front, the original color cream was changed to the very special Phantasy Yellow. This striking color was once painted by the factory on only 5 SL’s and also looks great on this car. What makes it extra nice is that the interior was executed in matching colors, exactly as it was at the time with the famous racing version, the SLS. Not only the colours, but also the seats themselves have been adopted from the SLS and provide the comfort and support that befits driving a high performance car like this SL.

A very special car in a special color requires a special owner. Someone who knows what he wants, and who wants to see the long-cherished wish to own what he considers the ultimate classic, come true.
