The Mercedes-Benz W111 was the chassis code given to a range of vehicles produced between 1959 and 1971. These included four door saloons, two door coupes and cabriolets. The Paul Bracq designed bodywork included distinctive tailfins giving the models their nickname Heckflosse, German for fintail. The coupe’s and cabriolets utilised most of the saloons chassis and drivetrain but featured a more square and subtle rear body styling. The cabriolet boasted seating for five occupants with the hood folding behind the rear seats and covered with a hood bag to match the seat colour.

In 1962 Mercedes-Benz released a more powerful M189-2996cc engine into its range which was badged as the 300SE. Boasting 14” wheels, pneumatic suspension, power steering and automatic transmission as standard.

The Mercedes Benz 300SE RHD offered here at Autostorico was first registered in May 1964. Finished in Silver metallic with Coffee leather interior trim. Purchased in 2006 by its current owner in need of restoration. He undertook a no expense spared nut and bolt restoration which was carried out by the well-known and respected Mercedes Benz specialist Riga Master in Latvia. Works included removing the engine and gearbox and stripping the whole body, before a bare metal respray was carried out. The car was also subject to a full mechanical overhaul including engine, gearbox, and suspension rebuild. Other notable works included new interior trim and convertible hood.
