Description
Introduced in 1968, the new mid-size W114/W115 series from Mercedes-Benz succeeded the W110 “Fintail” with modern styling by Paul Bracq. A 1973 facelift maintained the stature of the W114 line – especially for the US marketplace – until the W123 line appeared in 1976. Built in far lower numbers than its stablemates, the 280C coupe continues to be renowned for delivering a great driving experience with purposeful yet comfortable interiors and timeless good looks.
This later-production 1975 Mercedes-Benz 280C is a highly desirable example with specially ordered Stone Pine Green and Silver Green two-tone paint over Olive MB-Tex upholstery. According to its factory data card, this 280C is a highly optioned, US-specification model. Among its options are air-conditioning, a Becker radio with automatic antenna, individual front seats, power steering and windows, a floor shifter, central-locking system, paint preservation, a folding armrest, and insulated glass with a heated rear window.
Exceptionally well preserved with less than 36,000 miles, this outstanding 280C retains its matching-numbers engine per a copy of its factory data card, and benefits from a major mechanical service in 2017 including conversion of the air-conditioning system to R134a refrigerant. In addition to service records, the 280C is accompanied by a tool kit, owner’s manual, warranty and maintenance booklets, and four keys. A true “must-see” modern classic, this 280C is ready to collect and enjoy.
