Description

Honoring McLaren’s legendary three-time F1 World Champion driver Ayrton Senna, the Senna is a track-focused yet road-going supercar delivering race-derived specifications and monstrous performance with an almost otherworldly visual presence. Introduced at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the entire 500-car run planned for the Senna was sold out before production concluded. Built from the extremely strong yet lightweight competitiontype carbon fiber structure of the 720S, the Senna is powered by McLaren’s mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged, and intercooled M840TR DOHC 4.0-litre V-8 engine delivering 789 factory-rated horsepower and 590 lbs./ft. of torque to the rear wheels via a lightning-quick seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox.

The Senna’s power and performance are maximized by a stunning suite of active aerodynamic aids plus a massive rear spoiler and competitiontype carbon ceramic brakes with forged monobloc calipers. The Senna’s Vehicle Dynamics suite includes lightweight forged alloy wheels, Pirelli Trofeo R extreme-performance tires, an open differential with Brake Steer, three driver-selected stability-control modes (Comfort, Sport, and Track), and ABS, traction control, ESC, and launch control. According to McLaren, the Senna produces up to 1,763 pounds of aerodynamic downforce. Performance is massive, with the Senna routinely quoted by magazine road-testers as being capable of sprinting from rest to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds, covering the quarter mile in 10 seconds or slightly less, and reaching 211 mph flat out.

Once the dramatic, dihedral-type doors are opened, it is immediately apparent the Senna is also luxurious and well appointed, with abundant comfort and convenience features and amenities. Visibility is good, with the Senna’s narrow roof pillars and specially developed, lightweight Corning Gorilla Glass see-through lower door panels. Customizable and supportive bucket seats offer a choice of Alcantara or leather upholstery. Switches controlling door release, windows, and engine start are found on the ceiling. The Senna’s steering wheel is refreshingly free of control buttons, and the digital instrument panel folds up or down, depending upon the display mode selected by the driver. Electronics include a central 8" touchscreen with controls for audio, media connectivity, navigation, and other useful functions. While the Senna eschews the driver aids found in more pedestrian cars, a triple-camera system is nonetheless available.

Accompanied by its window sticker, this stunning 2019 McLaren Senna is one of only 500 examples manufactured in all. Finished in sinister MSO (McLaren Special Operations) Defined Amethyst Black paint over a matching interior, it was delivered new to the dealer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and remains virtually as-delivered, with just 88 miles displayed on the odometer at the time of cataloguing. In addition to the Senna’s many standard features – if ever that term could apply to a supercar with a base MSRP of nearly $959,000 – this example features 23 extra-cost options in addition to the special paint selection, documented by the window sticker to raise the total suggested retail price as delivered to $1,339,306.

Among this Senna’s many special features are the Full VCF (Visual Carbon Fiber) Gloss Body option costing $248,000 alone. Other highlights include upper and lower Gorilla Glass side windows, a glass upper-rear bulkhead, and silver brake calipers. The MSO Push-to-Drink system affords easy rehydration while driving on racing circuits while wearing a helmet. The interior is accented by six-point racing harnesses in black, plus comprehensive Stone Grey stitching for the seat pads, headrests, and steering wheel, bespoke floor mats, MSO logos, and myriad other upgrades. An audiophile-quality Bowers & Wilkins seven-speaker audio system provides entertainment should any be desired beyond the Senna’s vicious exhaust note. Other choice features include a McLaren factory-installed three-camera Track Telemetry package. Exterior options include Amethyst Black aero blades, Dark Stealth exhaust shielding, bespoke rear-wing end plates, and electroform bonnet badge. A full clear bra protects the paint finish, and accompanying items from the McLaren factory include a roadside warning triangle, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and car cover.

An unqualified tour de force in every possible respect, the McLaren Senna is a definitive modern supercar that will continue to be recognized as such for the foreseeable future. With its many factory options and incredibly low mileage, this bespoke example is a fabulous find at auction, and is ready to create an absolute sensation wherever it goes.
