Das Maybach 62 S Landaulet

Im November 2007 hatte Maybach mit einer Studie den Nimbus der Landaulet-Fahrzeuge aus der Zeit herrschaftlicher Kutschen wiederbelebt. Diese präsentierte Maybach auf dem 78. Automobilsalon in Genf zum ersten Mal dem europäischen Publikum. Aber bereits zuvor war die Resonanz auf dieses Glanzstück so positiv, dass sich Maybach entschloss, ausschließlich nach Kundenwunsch in Handarbeit gefertigte Landaulets anzubieten. Die Anregung zum Maybach Landaulet kam aus dem Kundenkreis von Maybach. Kenner verstehen unter einem Landaulet ein Automobil, das vorn ein festes Dach trägt, im hinteren Bereich ein Faltverdeck, damit die Passagiere Sonne und frische Luft genießen können. Landaulets wurden früher oft als Staatskarossen eingesetzt, in denen sich die Insassen den Menschen am Straßenrand präsentierten. Sicherheitserwägungen haben Landaulets heute weitgehend aus dieser Rolle verdrängt. Dem Mythos der Landaulet-Automobile hat dies nicht geschadet. Noch heute werden sie als ausgewiesene Chauffeurfahrzeuge an der Spitze der Automobilbaukust eingereiht. Das gilt im besonderen Maß für das Maybach Landaulet. Innovative, leistungsfähige Technik, außergewöhnlicher Komfort und luxuriöses Ambiente heben dieses Automobil selbst aus dem Kreis der Luxus-Fahrzeuge deutlich heraus. Daran Anteil haben auch ausgesucht wertvolle Materialien, die Spezialisten detailverliebt und großzügig mit handwerklichem Können im Maybach Landaulet verarbeiten. Als Beispiel zeigt das in Genf ausgestellte Fahrzeug weißes Grand-Nappa-Leder höchster Güte und einzigartigen schwarzen Granit sowie glänzenden Klavierlack für Zierteile. Zu vergleichen ist das neue Maybach Landaulet am ehesten mit edlen Superjachten – aufregend schönen und wertvollen Meisterstücken, die anspruchsvollste Technik und edle Werkstoffe mit einem hautnahen Erlebnis der Natur verbinden, das alle Sinne anspricht und ihre Eigner weit aus dem Alltäglichen herausnimmt. Im geschlossenen Zustand liegt das schwarze Verdeck des Maybach Landaulets auf dem Dachrahmen auf und schließt wind- und wetterdicht. Auf Wunsch seiner Fahrgäste betätigt der Chauffeur einen Schalter auf der Mittelkonsole. Darauf hin öffnen Elektromotoren vollautomatisch zwei Verschlüsse, mit denen das Faltdach im Dachrahmen verriegelt ist, und das Dach faltet sich zusammen und legt sich samt dem darin integrierten hinteren Fenster aus Einscheiben-Sicherheitsglas sanft hinten auf der Hutablage ab. Das Öffnen und Schließen des Dachs übernehmen nahezu geräuschlos je ein Hydraulikzylinder auf der rechten und auf der linken Seite. Die dafür notwendige Antriebskraft liefert eine elektrohydraulische Pumpe, die unsichtbar seitlich im Kofferraum untergebracht ist. Die gesamte Choreografie des Öffnens und Schließens des Dachs beansprucht weniger als 20 Sekunden. Das Gepäckabteil ist bei geöffnetem Dach ohne Einschränkungen zugänglich. Den luxuriösen Fond hat Maybach den Erfordernissen beim Offenfahren angepasst. So wurden die hinteren Kopfstützen gegenüber der Limousine etwas vergrößert. Diese tragen damit wirkungsvoll dazu bei, Windturbulenzen einzudämmen. Ein zusätzlicher schmaler Windabweiser fährt ab 70 km/h automatisch aus und reduziert eventuell störenden Fahrtwind noch weiter. Der etwa fünf Zentimeter breite Schutz kann jederzeit manuell bedient werden. Der Schalter dafür ist für die Fondpassagiere in der Mittelkonsole komfortabel zu erreichen. Die Gegensprechanlage im Passagierabteil ist mit einem zusätzlichen Hörer in der Mittelkonsole ausgestattet, um auch beim Offenfahren mit dem Fahrer kommunizieren zu können. Die Ruhesitze des Maybach Landaulet bieten neben einem Maximum an Komfort auch ein Höchstmaß an Sicherheit – in jeder Position. Das Rückhaltesystem mit Gurtstraffer, Gurtkraftbegrenzer und Sidebag ist in die Rückenlehnen integriert, sodass die Fondpassagiere auch in Ruhelage bestmöglich geschützt sind. Weitere Merkmale der Sicherheitsausstattung sind eine crashaktive Lehne, die sich bei einem Frontalaufprall aus der Ruhelage aufrichtet, und die Straffer an den Gurtschlössern, die beim Crash zusätzlich auch den Beckengurt straff ziehen. Angetrieben wird das Maybach Landaulet von dem leistungsgesteigerten V12-Motor, den Maybach Ingenieure gemeinsam mit den Experten von Mercedes-AMG für den Maybach 57 S und den Maybach 62 S weiterentwickelt haben. Dank Biturboaufladung und Wasser-Ladeluftkühlung schöpft der V12-Motor aus 5980 Kubikzentimeter Hubraum eine Höchstleistung von 450 kW/630 PS. Sie steht kontinuierlich zwischen 4800 und 5100 Umdrehungen zur Verfügung, während das Drehmomentmaximum von beeindruckenden 1000 Newtonmetern zwischen 2000 und 4000 Umdrehungen abgerufen werden kann.

The Maybach 62 S Landaulet

In November 2007, Maybach had revived the aura of the grand carriages of days gone by with its Landaulet study. The European premiere was taking place at the 78th Geneva Motor Show. Even beforehand, however, the response from the public to this masterpiece has been overwhelming, so much so that Maybach decided to offer the hand-built Landaulet based exclusively on the customer's own specifications. The Maybach name epitomises high-end luxury motoring. It stands for effortlessly superior automotive engineering at the very highest level, timeless and stylish elegance, and precision craftsmanship. Since approximately two-thirds of Maybach customers wish to tailor their cars exactly to their own tastes and ideas, Maybach is constantly expanding its exclusive range of customisation options. The Maybach Landaulet was prompted by the clientele of Maybach. Experts understand the landaulet to be an automobile whose front section has a fixed roof, but whose rear has a folding top to allow the passengers to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Landaulets were formerly often used as parade cars in which the occupants could present themselves to the people at the roadside. However, security considerations have largely relieved the landaulet of this function today. When closed, the black soft-top of the Maybach Landaulet rests on the roof frame and is wind and weather-proof. When requested by the passengers, the chauffeur operates a switch in the centre console. Fully automatically, electric motors then open the two locks which fasten the folding top to the roof frame; the top is folded and gently laid onto the parcel shelf in the rear, together with its integral rear windscreen made of single-layer safety glass. One hydraulic cylinder each on the left and right side open and close the top virtually noiselessly. The necessary driving power is furnished by an electro-hydraulic motor hidden away in the side of the boot. The opening and closing of the roof are choreographed to take place in less than 20 seconds. Of course, even with the top down the luggage compartment is always fully accessible. Maybach has adapted the luxurious rear compartment to the requirements of open-top motoring. For instance, the rear head restraints are slightly larger than on the saloon and effectively help reduce wind turbulence. Another slim wind deflector is automatically raised at speedsabove 70 km/h to further reduce the risk of any uncomfortable draughts. The deflector, which measures around five centimetres, can be activated manually at any time. The switch is conveniently positioned for rear passengers in the centre console. As well as being exceptionally comfortable, the reclining seats in the Maybach Landaulet offer an outstanding level of safety - in any position. The restraint system incorporating the belt tensioner, belt-force limiter and sidebag is integrated in the backrests, meaning that the rear passengers can enjoy optimal protection even when the seats are fully reclined. Further safety features include a crash-responsive backrest which is moved into an upright position in the event of a frontal impact and the tensioners on the belt buckles which also tension the lap belt in the event of an accident.
