Description

The Maybach brand was revived in 2002. The German super-luxury manufacturer produced nearly 1,800 luxury saloons over a 20-year period from the 1920s with support from Daimler-Benz whom they had a close relationship. Maybach founder Wilhelm Maybach had supported Gottlieb Daimler in their engineering and business efforts.
After the war, the company supplied diesel engines for ships and trains, but after the founder retired, the majority of the company was acquired by Daimler-Benz.
Nowadays the cars are based on the S-Class and GLS and marketed as Mercedes-Maybach and have a very affluent clientele.
The 57 and 62 models after their respective lengths, the 57 being 5,728 mm long, far longer than the S-Class, and with a wheelbase of 3,390 mm, provided the highest levels of traveling comfort.
This example is a 57 with the 5.5-litre V12 AMG engine, the same year 57S was released with a 6-litre V12 also from AMG.
Despite its relatively recent revival, Mercedes-Maybach is enjoying great popularity and the Maybach badge is seeing a resurgence.
