Description

VEHICLE HISTORY: This shining star of the coming Ardor Auctions auction was made in the Modena factory in 1992. The car, outfitted with the Dazing Black paint job and the Pelle Grigia interior, was imported to Poland 13 years ago and has had a single owner since that. The car was repainted several years ago and looks good now. The paint job was polished several months ago, which restored its lustre. The interior looks very good, with leather and alcantara on the dashboard cleaned. The flaws are as follows: cracked passenger door handle, broken rear ashtray mechanism and rear hatch dampers in need of replacement. Apart from those minor flaws, the Shamal is ready to drive and was recently inspected at a repair shop in Warsaw that specialises in repairs of Italian sports cars. An uncommon sports car that catches the eye of every fan of Italian cars and is in a highly satisfactory technical and visual condition - thanks to those features, the new owner can expect a high return on investment in a few years and will have a stylish coupé to drive in the meantime.

MODEL HISTORY: The Maserati Shamal, named after a hot summer wind that blows in the region of Mesopotamia, was developed between 1989 and 1996. The car was designed by the master designer Marcello Gandini, famous for the Lamborghini Countach, Bugatti EB110, and Alfa Romeo Montreal. The profile of the rear wheel well is a clear reference to the Countach. The car was unique even in its design. The very short coupé powered by a powerful V8 has been an eye-catcher since the very beginning. The power drive with a displacement of 3.2 litres was twin-turbocharged and put out 326 BHP. That translated to very good performance for the time: 0-100 kph in 5.3 seconds and top speed of 270 kph are impressive even today. In addition to the engine power, the Shamal was also a highly technologically advanced design, since it was fitted with an adaptive suspension, with variable damping rates for each wheel. The production ended in 1996 after only 369 examples of the model were made. As a result of the very limited production run, the model is now very rare on the collector market. Those examples that are sporadically found in the offer of Western car dealers often reach exorbitant prices. Well-preserved examples may still increase in value significantly in the incoming years.
