As can be seen from the copy of the order and delivery note from Maserati Classiche, this Sebring was initially destined for the USA, but was delivered new in Italy and registered on 21 January 1963. With just 335 built, it was the final Sebring produced in 1962 and featured three interesting options: air-conditioning, a passenger headrest and chrome wire wheels.
Its previous owner, an important collector of Maseratis, decided in 2011 to embark on a comprehensive restoration. He turned to one of the top Maserati specialists, Bill McGrath Ltd, in the UK. The restoration work was completed in May 2015 and the results proved absolutely perfect. The body was restored to its original colour, an attractive "Amaranto Roma", with beautiful light beige upholstery and carpets. Altogether, the work added up to £170,000, as can be seen from the invoices supplied with the car. In September 2015, it received first prize in the concours held during the international rally organised by the Maserati clubs. The prize was awarded by Adolfo Orsi in person. The car was then purchased at Rétromobile by an English collector who was impressed by its condition. He used it regularly and had no hesitation in taking it back to Bill McGrath at the end of 2018 to keep it running perfectly (with a bill for £7000). In June 2018, the Sebring featured in Classic Cars magazine next to its owner's DB5.
With 65,584 km recorded, and to be sold with its Maserati Classiche documentation and file of bills, an original sales brochure and a period Italian toolkit, this Sebring is an amazing GT.
