Description
This opalescent blue 4.2L Maserati Indy offered here was owned by a family. Purchased new in September 1969 directly at the Maserati factory by Il Signore Angelo Menegatto, of Monticello Brianza, Italy (near Milan), an industrialist in the textile sector. The car was delivered to him personally by the Comendatore Orsi, business partner at the time of the founder of Maserati, Alfieri Maserati. It was ordered with the optional air conditioning, but without the power steering extra, decided to be "too soft" by Mr. Menegatto. This Maserati will remain the property of Menegatto throughout his life. It is only at his death that he will give it to his grandson, a Monaco Resident. He will use this car only once, at his wedding, so that his future wife will be driven to the Church of Saint Devote, Monaco. He has always taken great care for this car, because of the sentimental and family story, evidenced by the latest service bill (over 6,000 euros were spent), in 2015. The car is in good original condition and operation, and especially consistent with its output from the factory. A true 1969 "time-capsule". Only the paint was redone, of course, in the original colour.
This rare Maserati Indy 4.2L (only 440 4.2L was produced), chassis number AM 116170, engine AM 116170 (numbers corresponding to the period warranty documents, supplied with this car) and Bodywork 1060, is in very good condition. It benefits from an excellent handling and very smooth gear changes. Only the paint (presence of a slight surface corrosion) and some chrome elements like the door handles and the front bumper (among others) could be redone to give a “Concours” look to this, already beautiful, Maserati. The seller informs that the mileage on the odometer is 44,125 km and that it would be original according to the grandson of Mr. Menegatto but is not officially confirmed.
All the original books are present and come with the car, as well as the Monaco’s certificates related to the de-registration, a letter of the FFVE (French Federation of classic cars), a controle technique, all in order to obtain French registration documents.
This is an opportunity for the collector of beautiful Italian automobiles to add a rare Maserati, with a most interesting history… And such low ownership.
