HISTORY
The Maserati Ghibli Spyder 4.7 stands as one of the most desirable open-top grand tourers of the late 1960s and early 1970s—a masterclass in Italian design, performance, and exclusivity. Born from Maserati’s ambition to rival the very best of Ferrari and Lamborghini, the Ghibli Spyder offered not only breathtaking aesthetics but also true GT capability.

Penned by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro at Ghia, the Ghibli’s sharp, low-slung profile and long bonnet exude timeless elegance and raw power. The Spyder version, introduced in 1969, added an extra dimension of glamour and open-air driving pleasure, making it one of the most coveted Maseratis ever built.

At the heart of the Ghibli Spyder 4.7 lies a naturally aspirated quad-cam V8 engine—delivering refined yet forceful performance with a distinctively rich Maserati soundtrack. With its rear-wheel drive layout, well-balanced chassis, and grand touring comfort, the car offers both spirited driving and long-distance cruising capabilities.

Produced in very limited numbers, the 4.7 Spyder remains a rare jewel in Maserati’s history. Its combination of stunning design, mechanical sophistication, and exclusivity has earned it a revered status among collectors and enthusiasts worldwide.

OUR Ghibli Spyder
A rare opportunity to acquire an outstanding example of one of Maserati’s most desirable open-top grand tourers: the Ghibli Spyder 4.7L. This particular car, chassis AM115S1055, was delivered new to Munich in 1969 and first registered to a gentleman in Rosenheim. Finished in the elegant factory combination of Blue Sera (Blu Scuro Metallizzato) over Marrone Connolly leather, this Ghibli Spyder embodies the best of Italian grand touring design and engineering.

Acquired by the current owner in 2021 from DPM Motors in Monaco, the car subsequently underwent a comprehensive restoration in Italy, returning it to its original factory specification. The engine restoration was entrusted to the renowned specialists at Officina Molinari di Molinari Paolo & C. S.n.c., while the bodywork was restored by Carrozzeria Meschiari Dario, Roberto, Giorgio S.n.c., and the interior retrimmed by Luppi, ensuring the highest standards of craftsmanship throughout.

Further enhancing its provenance, the car is Maserati Classiche certified. The certificate confirms its original factory colour combination, matching numbers engine, perfect compression values, and rare details including the original windscreen—a testament to its authenticity and careful preservation.

This Maserati Ghibli Spyder 4.7L represents a pinnacle of 1960s Italian motoring—combining timeless styling by Giugiaro, robust V8 performance, and open-top touring refinement. With its low production numbers, rich documented history, and concours-quality restoration, this is a true collector’s car, equally at home on the concours lawn or the open road.

The Maserati is available at our showroom in Munich, on appointment.
