The 3500 GT was the first Maserati road car to be built in large numbers. The elegantly shaped body was a creation from Carrozzeria Touring, made from aluminium attached to a tubular steel frame, while the six-cylinder engine was derived from the 350S racing car. In 1961 triple Weber carburettors were replaced by a mechanical fuel-injection system from Lucas, boosting the power to 235 bhp. Just 441 3500 GTis were produced between 1961 and 1964.

According to information provided by Maserati Classiche, this 3500 GTi was delivered in a Grigio New Market Metallizzato over a red leather interior, which it wears today. Completed by the factory in June of 1962, it was delivered new to its first owner in Milan, Italy. While further ownership information is not known, it was acquired by the consignor in 1996 and has remained in static storage in his collection ever since. Displaying less than 51,000 km on its odometer, this 3500 GTi will require recommissioning prior to use, as it has remained in static storage for over two decades. The 3500 GTi is an effortless long-distance GT car and a compelling alternative to Jaguars, Ferraris, and Aston Martins.

DEUTSCH

  • Die letzten 24 Jahre in einer Hand
  • Mit Originalmotor
  • In originaler Farbkombination

To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/es20.
