Description

The Maserati 3500 GT helped transform the storied Italian firm from a race car manufacturer that produced sports cars in small numbers to a name known for its impressive grand tourers. The 3500 GT’s performance benefited from Maserati’s hard-won competition experience and was more luxurious and usable than its predecessors. Powered by a twin-cam straight-six derived from Maserati’s 350S sports-racer, the 3500 GT was refined enough for cross-continental travel and yet still exciting to drive.

Completed in July 1961, chassis AM101.1730 features the desirable specification of three- Weber carburetors, a five-speed gearbox, and front disc brakes. It was delivered new to Venice, Italy, finished in the stunning colors of Lancia Blu Scuro (Lancia Dark Blue) with a dark red leather interior. The Maserati’s second owner purchased it in 1984, and by 2015, it was owned by an East Coast collector who recognized its unrestored nature but had it freshened mechanically. Working with Graham Engineering & Motorsport in New Jersey, the car’s mechanical, electrical, fuel, and braking systems were addressed. The interior leather was treated and preserved, and the carpets were carefully cleaned. This Maserati is a charismatically presented representation of one of the marque’s first significant production models. While most 3500 GTs have gone through restoration, this example has never been comprehensively restored and retains its wonderful original essence.

Please note that this vehicle is titled as 1011730.
