Description

Lotus Elan S4 SE roadster

In March 1970, this Lotus Elan rolled off the production line in Hethel, England. Chassis number 0078G was originally a so-called drophead coupe for the UK market. In 1989 it was purchased by the current owner, who restored it from 1990-1993.

The chassis was replaced with a factory supplied galvanized new chassis. Engine, gearbox and differential were overhauled and things like wiring harness, gauges, switches etc. were replaced. The car still had its original engine with the correct red valve covers and the stamped H between the spark plug wires, which refers to the high compression cylinder head.

In 2014 it was the Lotus' turn again for major maintenance. The engine was refreshed with new pistons and an improved ignition, alternator and starter motor were installed. It was also fitted with adjustable wishbones, Minilite wheels and springs and dampers from specialist Tony Thompson. This is clearly an Elan that stands out in todays market! Highly original, matching numbers and colours, perfect driving, with an extensive history file since 1989 and with a strong engine, proved by the 120 bhp it produced on the rolling road at Beek Racing.

For an real enthusiast, this Lotus Elan cannot be resisted. We would like to invite you to come and meet him and put him through its paces.
