For sale in our upcoming auction on September 16th at the Montreux Palace, exhibition on the Montreux Palace garden, from September 13 to 16. The Junior Formula presented is a Lotus 22, equipped with its oblique engine Cosworth of 30 ?, and presented in an exceptional condition. This vehicle underwent a very high quality restoration made by his current owner, a specialist passionate about car race.
Our Formula 22 has its prize list of race, since 1965 when it was recorded in the "Silverstone race Meeting" carrying the number 156. Afterward, she ran a large number of races, first of all, under Malcolm Eaves' steering wheel during seasons 66 and 67, where she obtained very good results, with a first place to Curborough, a second place to Prescott and for the third place to Harewood, and Shelsley. It changed driver for the season 68 where its results were appreciably the same, then again for the season 69. It stayed until 1971 at the hands of the same driver, then it would seem that it little ran next years. The car was acquired by a new owner in 2007 and its current owner purchased it in 2015 to restore it like new, and offer it a very beautiful restoration.
Its mechanics are in very good condition, as its box and its frame today. The engine starts effortlessly and the pressures are good and constant although it is necessary to start the pump with oil before activating the injection to avoid any blocking of the engine.
This Formula 22 is in a very beautiful condition of display and functioning. She can easily be registered again in historic competitions or simply during a track day or a hill climb such as Revival Montreux-Caux.
