Can quite quickly be changed to Atlantic spec</li></ul><p>Founded By Eric Broadley with the introduction of the Lola MKI in 1958 Lola Cars Ltd. has become the longest established race car manufacturer in Great Britain. The ability to diversify across several classes showed the technical expertise of Lola's founder allowing them to dominate for almost a generation. By the mid-seventies, Lola, with their Formula 2, Formula Atlantic and 2.0-litre Sportscars were the class of the field and, as sponsorship became the norm, things went from strength to strength. </p><p>Offered here is the beautifully prepared Lola T360 # HU18 sponsored, in period, by Wella and driven by Ted Wentz in 1975. Wentz had won the Wella sponsored Formula Ford Championship in 1973. and they continued to support him. In 1975, when his Lola T360 #HU07 was written off in testing by Roy James (of Great Train Robbery fame) Lola loaned him #HU18. For the 1976 British Formula Atlantic Series HU18 went on to be driven for the first two rounds at Brands Hatch by Tony Trimmer, winning on both occasions and for the remainder of the season by Mike King. After the 1976 season, HU18 was sold to Carl Liebich in Canada who campaigned the car in the 1977 Labatts Canadian Formula Atlantic series and the 1978 and 1979 North American Formula Atlantic series. In the records for 1977 and 1978, HU18 is listed as a T460. It is unclear at this stage as to whether it had been fully converted to T460 specification or not. It is interesting to note that in 1979 it is listed as Lola T560 (460-HU18) as the factory upgrades were added. The history file contains all the race results from Trois Rivieres in September 1977 through to Long Beach in March 1980.</p><p>HU18 was finally returned to the UK having been purchased by Steve Maxted and with the help of Colin Poole, they undertook the complete restoration of the chassis and car fitting a new 2-litre Cosworth BDG engine intending to run the car in Formula 2 specification. Finished in time for the 2006 Silverstone Classic, Steve raced the car until it was purchased by its current owner. Recently the wishbones were crack tested and all the rose joints replaced and the car has not raced since. The BDG was rebuilt by Geoff Richardson two races ago. The rear wing supports and rear frame/engine mounts are all fresh as well.
