Imagine, it's the early 60's and you want to get somewhere you can't normally get with a car and a (Willys) Jeep is not your thing (small detail; the first Land Rovers were technically quite similar to the Jeep since it served as an 'example') then a Land Rover is the best alternative.

It was Rover who introduced the car in 1948, initially the car was produced in England but soon it was also built under license in countries such as Australia, Spain, Belgium and Germany. The introduction to the public took place on April 30, 1948, during the Amsterdam International Motor Show (AutoRAI). In 1958 this (subsequently named) first series was replaced by the Series II which in turn was replaced by the Series IIA in 1961.

Our Landy was registered in 1962 and is, therefore, one of the first series IIA produced, number 10338 to be precise. The first owner was the British Rhine Army in Germany and the car distinguishes itself by the fuel tanks placed under the seats. In 1971 the car got a Dutch registration, reportedly in the service of the fire brigade. Since then, the Land Rover has always remained in the Netherlands.

The last owner owned the car for 11 years and even though these off-road vehicles are known for being very robust and indestructible, maintenance has never been cut. This copy concerns the version with a wheelbase of 88 inches (hence Land Rover 88) and is equipped with a 2.2 litre petrol engine with 77 hp. Because the car received all the attention it deserved, this car is of course in ready-to-go condition.

The signs of wear on the car are as they should be on these types of vehicles, with a dent here or there that only makes the car more beautiful. Everything else works properly, the engine starts immediately and runs very nicely. Some 'modern' changes were made, for example, the car can run on Euro95 and tubeless tires are fitted. The original parts are kept with the car, as is the original soft-top.
