French title
The Land Rover Series 1 presented here was delivered new in January 1954 in an original French configuration with left hand steering wheel and odometer. A metal plaque under the dashboard "Compagnie Algérienne des Tracteurs" indicates that it may have made a trip across the Mediterranean before the country gained independence. Presented in its original configuration, this Series 1 underwent a major restoration including dismantling, sandblasting and assembly of the aluminium body parts and then painting in its original Rover Green Bronze colour. The interior was also the subject of extensive care and attention, with the upholstery redone in its original green colour both front and rear, the original counters on the dashboard cleaned and reassembled, and the three spoke steering wheel cleaned. All windscreen, door and window seals are new, as well as the sand-coloured exterior cover, model "Exmoor" ordered from Series Forever in England.
The robust Rover 2.0L petrol engine has been serviced to the last detail and the clamps have been replaced by a specialist. Our road test showed the gearbox to be in good working order and the car to be handling quite well on the tarmac for a franchiser. This is a great opportunity to acquire a solid quality 4X4 that can handle all roads and tracks without difficulty as well as an automotive myth, father of most franchisors around the world and grandfather of the Land Rover Defender still in production today.
