Description

"The first-generation Range Rover was produced between 1970 and 1996. The original car was not designed as a luxury-type 4x4; while certainly up-market compared to preceding Land Rover models, the early Range Rovers had fairly basic, utilitarian interiors with vinyl seats and plastic dashboards designed to be washed down with a hose. Features such as power assisted steering, carpeted floors, air conditioning, cloth/leather seats and wooden interior trim were fitted later. The Range Rover was a body-on-frame design with a box section ladder type chassis, similar to contemporary Land Rovers. The Range Rover utilised coil springs as opposed to leaf springs, permanent four-wheel drive and four-wheel disc brakes and was originally powered by the Rover V8 engine.
This Range Rover Vogue SE was registered in May 1990 and at the time was the top of the range flagship 4.0 litre V8 car for the world-famous Midlands manufacturer. Presented in Epsom Green with a beige leather interior, this example has been owned by our vendor since 2018 and it has been MoT’d (with the exception of COVID affected 2020) continuously for the last decade. Purchased as a light project, our vendor has replaced the headlining and sunroof, fulfilled some necessary welding and sourced a new tailgate along with any mechanical maintenance that was required. The motivation was for an ideal car to use on the weekends for shooting and take friends to motoring events such as Goodwood. Still boasting the original leather and trimmings and the three spoke body-coloured wheels, this car would clearly benefit from a re-paint but otherwise would make an ideal and frankly ultra-cool piece of 90’s nostalgia. Offered with a history file with numerous previous MoT test certificates, some invoices and a UK V5 registration document coupled to the current MoT certificate valid until March 2022, this relatively low owner example, just six former keepers, is perfect for anyone who is happy to carry on the cosmetic work and that appreciates the golden age of Range Rover opulence.
