Description
Chassis No. SALLDVAF7LA931562
Engine No. 11L35475A
This 1993 Land Rover Defender 90 is a classic off-roader, continuing the legacy of the Land Rover series that began in 1983 with models like the 110 and 127. The Defender 90, while sharing visual similarities with the Series III Land Rover, features significant updates, including coil springs, a permanent four-wheel-drive system, and a two-speed transfer gearbox with a lockable center differential. This example is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged direct injection (Tdi) diesel engine that delivers 111 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
Following its importation to the United States in August 2019, this Defender 90 underwent an extensive restoration, with much of the work completed by Selden Motors of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania in early 2021. The work included overhauls of the brakes, suspension, coolant hoses, and electrical system, along with a replacement of the clutch hydraulics. The restoration also featured a superb refinish of the body paint in the original Arles blue color, a black canvas top from Exmoor Trim, roll-up safari windows, upgraded brakes with ventilated discs front and rear. Halogen "Halo-style" headlights and fresh taillights were installed, and the front bucket seats and two rear seats were reupholstered. The restoration also included gloss black painted 16-inch wheels with Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tires. Additionally, in 2023, the vehicle received a new transmission and battery.
Starting life as a right-hand drive example in the home market of the United Kingdom with registration number "L774 VRH," this Land Rover was converted from right to left-hand drive for increased drivability, making it easier to navigate U.S. roads. Additionally, it is documented by a digital copy of its British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate confirming its original five-speed build specification and matching numbers engine. An uncommon site in the United States, this well-presented 1993 Land Rover Defender 90 is ready to stand out wherever it goes, from off-road trails to the local Cars and Coffee gathering.
