Lancia Flaminia GT 2.5 Touring Superleggera
In modern times, the absolute beauty of the car is limited by all kinds of regulations. That's exactly why they don't build them anymore like this sensationally stunning, perfectly restored 1960 Lancia Flaminia GT 2.5 Touring Superleggera. A car designed in an era where the designer's imagination potentially was the only limit to their creation. In case of the Flaminia GT, Italian artist Pininfarina clearly was at the top of his game! What. A. Beauty. World class.
History
The story behind this fully matching “bella” starts on March 23: the day is was delivered new in home country Italy. The Netherlands got a grip on the Flaminia in 2010, but not before being under the Swiss radar. Since the Lancia has Dutch genes, she has only changed owners once. Although there wasn’t much to criticize about the completely original, hard and sleek bodywork at the time of purchase, the owner had other plans. It’s quite unique that a classic in such a great shape is handled as thoroughly as this one. "Why? Because she deserves it”, according to the owner. Serious corrosion and damages were never found. But that’s not the same as remaining in immaculate condition. Because that’s what this Superleggera is: absolutely flawless.
The major restoration process started back in 2014 and lasted for 5 years. In these years the body was completely bared, smoothed and sprayed. The stainless steel bumpers and interior are all new. Engine and other techniques have been overhauled by Mugello in Hilversum. Total costs? Almost 80,000 euros! Invoices are included, so please bring your calculator…
Exterior
The Lancia Flaminia GT is praised for its sheer beauty. The charismatic lines are as pure as water. Perhaps an exotic seaside resort has served as a source of inspiration, as the original gray paint (after all, there are plenty of them) has been exchanged for an ice blue hue "borrowed" from the Maserati 3500 GTi - another masterpiece from coachbuilder Touring. We admit, the GT is truly splendid. The stainless steel bumpers shine bright like only chrome could do and every other detail is just as original as it is impeccable. What a character, this extremely tasteful, timelessly elegant Superleggera body... All in all a brilliantly looking, super fine machine!
Interior
The Lancia interior is put together in a way only Italian’s could do: suiting the exterior perfectly. And when we say perfect, we really mean perfect. The Connolly high quality leather is Blu Navy in terms of color. Combined with a blue floor and dashboard, this Lancia is a straight style icon on wheels. The many chrome details are inseparable from the 60s legends, but the biggest eye-catcher is the 3-spoke wooden steering wheel. By far. No captain would resist the temptation to climb aboard this boat- er, vehicle.
Technique
The Lancia we offer is a 1st series Flaminia. It means that this GT Touring is equipped with a wonderful 2.5 liter V6 engine including one carburettor. As we wrote before, the block has been completely overhauled and you immediately notice the vivacity of the 119 horses in the big 6-cylinder. In combination with the lightweight “Superleggera” body, created by the masters of Carrozzeria Touring, the GT is surprisingly smooth and agile. Does this mean that the classic Lancia drives as good as it looks? There's only one way to find out...
Kind regards,
Prins Classics
