Introduced in 1979, the Lancia Delta was a compact saloon designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. It met with immediate success and was elected European Car of the Year by the press in 1980. The standard version was followed by the GT, then the HF Turbo, the S4 (intended for homologation as a Group B rally car), the HF 4WD (the first Lancia Integrale to win the World Rally Championship in 1987), the HF Integrale (which in turn claimed the world title in 1988) and finally, in 1989, the HF Integrale 16v. In 1991, the Italian manufacturer presented the first evolution of its Delta HF Integrale, which would win an eleventh World Rally Championship title the following year. The ultimate development of the Delta Integrale, the Evoluzione 2 appeared in 1993. The power produced by its turbocharged 4-cylinder in-line Lampredi engine went up to 215bhp, with maximum torque of 236lb·ft delivered at just 2500rpm. In 1994, 365 ‘White Pearl’ special edition models were built, with just 10 cars reserved for the French market.

The example we are presenting is one of these Delta HF Integrale Evolution 2 ‘White Pearl’ models. It was delivered to the Lancia garage in Monaco in April 1994, but was finally sold by the Lancia dealer in Salon-de-Provence on 17 June 1995. It had only one owner until last year, when it was acquired by its current owner. This ‘White Pearl’ limited edition is characterised by its pearlescent white paint (code 271), set off by a grey coachline along the sides of the car. Inside, the handsome Recaro bucket seats are upholstered in blue leather, as are the door cards, steering wheel and gear lever gaiter. The carpets and headlining are also blue. The car is currently in superb condition, with magnificent original paintwork and as-new upholstery. Behind the wheel, we found the car to be smooth and very pleasant to drive at low revs, but radically transformed as the needle of the rev counter approached the redline. The driving experience was a real surprise, as if the car had just left the showroom. This Lancia Delta comes with a substantial history file including its service booklet, owner’s manuals and all its safety inspection certificates since 1999, as well as all its service bills, which confirm the careful maintenance that has been carried out. It has also both sets of keys, tool roll and car cover with the Lancia logo. With only 56,000km (35,000 miles) recorded, the car is in concours condition and has everything going for it. It is certainly worthy of consideration by the most demanding collectors!
