It is this car’s exceptional original condition which will most appeal to enthusiasts. The white paintwork has undoubtedly never been resprayed, while the elegant green Alcantara upholstery shows no sign of wear or sagging. On the dashboard, the impressive array of dials sparkle with their yellow numbers on a black background. On the door cards and centre console, some traces of the protective plastic can still be seen. One of the changes made by Baudouin Lempereur was to fit an adapter to the steering wheel, which he made himself to suit his considerable height.
Its history allows us to understand why this car has been so well preserved. According to its warranty certificate, this Lancia Delta Evo was sold new to a Mr. D., who lived in Amar in Belgium. Originally leased (the contract is on file), it was registered in March 1992, after an Elser alarm had been fitted in February. The leasing company itself sold the car in December 1993, when it had covered less than 20,000km, to Lempereur. He used it from time to time and had it serviced in May 1994, at 25,935km. Another service bill from Lancia Namur shows its mileage at 30,636km in 1995, while an oil change sticker indicates that it had covered a total of 33,200km in 1997.
Today, the odometer is showing 35,486km, which is in all likelihood the figure from new. The car comes with its owner’s manual, service and after-sales booklets. This is certainly one of the best preserved examples of this homologation special, which – thanks to its four-wheel drive and 2-litre turbocharged engine – delivered performance to crush the competition.
