Description
Few performance cars possess the unmistakable presence and competition pedigree of the Lancia Delta HF Integrale. Developed through an extraordinary period in Lancia’s rallying history, the Delta became one of the defining cars of the World Rally Championship, with Lancia securing six consecutive Constructors’ Championships from 1987 to 1992.
The Evoluzione took that celebrated formula to its most extrovert form. Broader bodywork, revised suspension, larger front brakes and further mechanical development transformed the already formidable Integrale into the instantly recognisable wide bodied car enthusiasts know simply as the Evo
About this Delta
Our car is a Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione I, finished in elegant Bianco and carrying chassis number ZLA831AB000568190. The accompanying documentation identifies the car as an Evoluzione I, rather than the subsequent Evoluzione II, and records first registration in Germany on 1 August 1996. The history later places the car in the United Kingdom, where it was registered as P996 LRX, before returning to Germany. More significant still is the exceptionally modest documented mileage. The available records trace the odometer from 13,619 km in 2010, to 17,448 km in 2017, 18,178 km in 2021 and just 19,091 km in 2025. The mileage history is supported by workshop invoices together with TÜV, KÜS, GTÜ and emissions documentation.
Exterior
Finished in Bianco, the Integrale has exactly the visual impact expected from an Evoluzione. The broad arches, purposeful proportions and unmistakable box shaped Delta silhouette combine to produce one of the most charismatic designs of its generation.
The supplied history records no accidents or rust, while TÜV, KÜS and GTÜ inspection records are stated as showing no faults.
Interior
Inside, the Integrale continues the very particular character of this homologation era performance car. The cabin is purposeful and driver focused, providing a fascinating contrast to the extrovert exterior.
Importantly for a collectible Integrale, the accompanying historical file allows far more of the car's life to be understood than appearance alone could reveal. Registration paperwork, workshop invoices, inspections and valuation material document its progression through both its British and German history.
Engine and drivetrain
At the heart of the Evoluzione is Lancia’s 1,995 cc turbocharged engine, coupled to a five speed manual transmission and four wheel drive. Documentation relating specifically to this car records 1,995 cc and 151 kW, while model reference information gives 151 kW, or 210 CV, for the 16 valve HF Integrale Evoluzione. In January 2017, the original engine was replaced following a compression failure on cylinder number 4. The supplied history records the installation of a new engine assembly, identified with engine code 834, and the replacement forms part of the documented service history. The documentation also records attention to the cooling system, including the radiator and hoses, together with a gearbox oil change in 2017. No issues with the turbocharger or differential are recorded in the supplied history and inspection material.
Service and maintenance
The depth of documentation is one of the appealing aspects of this particular Integrale. Its history includes British and German registration material, workshop invoices, inspection reports and the later German valuation. Selected documented work includes:
2010, 13,619 km: timing belt and tensioner replaced, with boost and fuel pressure adjustment and ECU EPROM replacement by Auto Integrale in the United Kingdom.
2011: clutch replacement.
February 2014: KW coilover suspension installed, accompanied by TÜV approval.
2016: TÜV NORD single vehicle approval under §21 StVZO, recorded without defects.
January 2017: engine replacement following loss of compression on cylinder number 4, together with documented cooling system work and gearbox oil change.
2021: KÜS inspection.
2025, 19,091 km: GTÜ inspection, with the next HU recorded as due in April 2027
The supplied history also recommends a time based replacement of the timing belt due to the time elapsed since the recorded belt service.
Summary
The Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione I occupies a special place among modern European collector cars. Its competition heritage is extraordinary, its shape instantly recognisable and, decades after its creation, an Evoluzione still has an on road presence that very few cars of its generation can equal.
This particular example adds an especially attractive combination of Bianco paintwork, remarkably modest documented mileage and extensive historical material. The recorded mileage stands at only 19,091 km in 2025, with a history stretching across the car's British and German periods. Its history is also refreshingly transparent. The original engine was replaced in January 2017 following a documented compression failure on cylinder number 4, and the car is consequently not matching numbers. Crucially, the reason and circumstances surrounding the replacement are recorded within the historical file rather than being left to conjecture. For the enthusiast looking for an Integrale to admire and enjoy rather than hide away, this Bianco Evoluzione I offers an especially charismatic proposition, combining one of Lancia’s greatest road cars with low documented mileage, striking presentation and a history file that tells its story in unusual detail.
