Description
Lancia’s Aurelia, and particularly the B20 GT, remains one of the best-engineered and most stylish grand touring cars of the entire postwar era. Bearing chassis 1656, this highly desirable, final Series VI example incorporates all the many improvements applied during production of the model, including roll-up windows with a triangular quarter vent, a chrome bonnet strip, improved sound deadening, and Lancia’s excellent 2.5-liter, all-alloy, V-6 engine.
Accompanied by a certificate of origin from Lancia Classiche, this original left-hand-drive model maintains exceptional originality, including the matchingnumbers engine and floor-shifted transaxle, plus the original steering box, front suspension, body, trim, fittings, instruments, and glass. Finished in dark blue over gray cloth, this exceedingly well-maintained example features pleasing cosmetics, proper finishes, excellent mechanicals, and correct accessories including Carello lights and lenses. Provenance includes long-term Swedish ownership from 1965 to 2012, when it was imported to the US. Formerly, this Aurelia B20 GT was part of the noted car collection of Californian David Word.
Fascinating documents and details include the vehicle’s final Swedish registration documents, import paperwork, correspondence, and a 1970/71 inspection sticker. Eligible for such desirable classic events and rallies as the Colorado Grand, this 1958 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT makes a wonderful statement, with its sleek body and refined engineering.
