Description

Lancia introduced the Aprilia in 1936, born to replace the Artena model.
Built with a refined and avant-garde technique, its 1352 cc 4-cylinder engine could develop 47 hp, a high value for the time.
Production continued in the immediate postwar period: several thousand units made the Aprilia model one of the most successful cars in the Italian motoring scene.
The second series, in production since 1939, differed from the first in particular for the dashboard and for the displacement increased to 1500 cc with 48-49 horsepower.
Lancia sold some chassis to the body shops (defined as true tailor shops) who sewed a tailored body, following the most varied requests of "special" customers.
The car we introduce is one of these, designed and built by Pininfarina during the spring / summer of 1949.
In January 1950 this Aprilia was sold to the Russian Deminoff family, settled in Tuscany, for the huge sum of 264,700.00 lire (an important amount of money for the period).
During the summer of 1956, the sleek cabriolet was sold for 250,000.00 lire to Mr. Sabatino Bigazzi from Florence. He kept this car till 1957, when Mr. Locchi from Florence acquired the property for 200,000.00 lire.
After about two years the vehicle was handed to Mr. Pasquale Poggesi from Figline Valdarno for 50,000.00 lire.
During the 80’s, the Aprilia was radiated for administrative reasons, before being re-registered in the early 2000s with its original Florence (FI) license plate, thanks to Mr. Guido Lamperti, a well-known lover of the Lancia brand.
After a meticulous restoration, followed personally by Lamperti, the car was presented at the Villa d'Este elegance contest in 2006.
Even today we can see the quality of the work carried out and the skill of the artisans who have given the right shine to the sleek lines of the Turin body shop, while preserving the original leather seats.
The Lancia Aprilia Pininfarina Cabriolet is in a state of good mechanical efficiency and it is ASI and Lancia Club approved.
