Description
"Lanchester had started planning the LD10 before World War II with a planned launch date of 1940, but it wasn’t to appear until 1945. The planned Lanchester Ten had an all-steel body made by the Briggs Company. In keeping perhaps with the times, this was rather plain and austerely finished, with a painted metal fascia, and the styling has been compared to a London black cab. It was a complete contrast to the large, luxurious cars that Lanchester had once manufactured.
In 1946 the coachbuilders E D Abbott of Farnham, bought two chassis on which they produced two convertible versions of the LD10, this is one of those two – the other one is owned by Jaguar Daimler Heritage trust. This rare car has benefitted from a full photographic restoration. This work has been recorded in a comprehensive photographic history which is present along with huge amounts of bills and receipts. This must be one of the rarest cars available in the sale. Consigned by Dominic Lake.
