At Daytona Automobil, our affection for the Murcielago runs incredibly deep. We consistently keep a few choice examples tucked away in our collection because we consider the model to be the high-water mark of Lamborghini’s modern V12 era. As 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of the LP640’s introduction, we decided to embark on a unique project. We didn't want to just find a clean car to sell; we wanted to create the absolute finest, most mechanically absolute driver’s Murcielago in existence.
We sourced this fully accident-free, exceptionally low-mileage coupe 1.5 years ago. It arrived in our premesis showing just 11,818 kilometers, a pristine, highly original baseline. Over the past twelve months, this car became an absolute passion project for our team. We spent close to €100,000 with a singular goal: to eliminate 20 years of rubber degradation and age, checking every mechanical tolerance and scrutinizing every single surface until the car rivaled, if not exceeded, the state it left Sant'Agata in 2006.
The centerpiece of this project was the drivetrain. The massive 6.5-litre V12 engine was completely removed from the chassis for a overhaul. Every component susceptible to aging, lines, seals, gaskets, and bushings, was replaced if needed with factory-fresh parts. While the engine was out, we executed the ultimate upgrade: converting the car from its original, automated E-Gear system to a precise, gated 6-speed manual transmission. A manual LP640 coupe is widely regarded as one of the most visceral and engaging analog driving experiences ever conceived. However, factory-original manual LP640s are hard to find, and when they do surface, their prices have climbed to a level where most owners no longer dare to drive them. This car changes that dynamic entirely. It delivers the same tactile harmony, heavy clutch weight, and iconic metallic clink of a factory three-pedal car, but at a third of the entry price. This is an investment made for a connoisseur who actually intends to unleash that 640 hp V12 on the open road.
When it came to the specification, there was no debate. We chose what we firmly believe is THE definitive color for a Murcielago Coupe: Grigio Telesto. Famously known as the "Batman color" after its starring role as Bruce Wayne’s personal transport on the silver screen, it perfectly accentuates the aggressive, stealth-fighter lines penned by Luc Donckerwolke. The paint is paired with grey Hercules wheels and silver brake calipers for a perfectly monochromatic look. To ensure this perfection remains permanent, the entire body received a full application of Paint Protection Film (PPF) immediately following a multi-stage paint correction. Inside, the cabin is upholstered in Nero leather featuring full Q-citura diamond stitching, adding a layer of subtle, traditional Italian craftsmanship to an otherwise menacing interior.
It is also worth noting that the LP640 Coupe is significantly rarer than the general market realizes. While total Murcielago production numbers look sizeable on paper, that figure is heavily diluted by early 6.2-litre cars. Finding a clean, unmolested, accident-free LP640 Coupe today is already an immense challenge. Finding one that has been completely refreshed from the ground up, with an engine-out service and a fresh manual gearbox, is a complete anomaly.
There is absolutely nothing left to do to this car to make it better in our opinion; every detail has been addressed by our team. This Murcielago represents an extraordinary amount of value, offering its next custodian a turn-key and deeply personal piece of supercar history that is ready to be driven, heard, and thoroughly enjoyed.
