Description

Chassis No. ZA9BC10E03LA12422

Introduced in 2001, the Lamborghini Murciélago carried forward the defining characteristics of its predecessors, a tradition established with the Lamborghini Miura: a supercar produced in Sant'Agata Bolognese, powered by a mid-mounted V12, and named after a remarkably resilient Spanish fighting bull that was later given to none other than Don Antonio Miura. Replacing the iconic Diablo, from which it inherited its V12 architecture, the Lamborghini Murciélago saw its displacement increased to 6.2 liters, with power raised to 580 horsepower.

Deeply rooted in Lamborghini tradition, the Murciélago nevertheless ushered in a new era following Audi's acquisition of the marque, with a greater emphasis on quality and reliability, improved ergonomics, more refined finishes, and a significantly easier driving experience than its predecessors.

First registered to Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. on 8 January 2003, as documented by a digital copy of the original registration title, this Murciélago was finished in the striking Giallo Orion over a black leather interior with yellow stitching. Retained by the Lamborghini Factory during its early life, the car served as a promotional car for the model, featuring in magazine articles and period publications.

The color is not the only particularly appealing aspect of this example. Its highly desirable manual transmission, paired with the iconic gated shifter, has become increasingly sought after today. Its appeal is all the greater given that the automated e-gear transmission was introduced as an option at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show and proved popular with customers at the time.

Carefully and regularly maintained, as per its original stamped service book, the car was initially serviced directly by the Factory, which owned it, and by Auto-König München through 25,800 km. It was subsequently maintained exclusively by official Lamborghini dealers or authorized partners in Italy, in Milan, Bergamo, and Crevalcore, even after its next private owner moved to Switzerland, bringing the Murciélago across the Alps in 2011. Its most recent service was performed by Lamborghini Milano in 2021, at 33,792 km, less than 1,000 km ago. The service included the fitment of four new Pirelli tires.

The Murciélago stood as one of the great jewels of Lamborghini during its production years, with annual production volumes of around 400 units and a pivotal place in the marque's lineage of supercars. Finished in striking Giallo Orion, equipped with the highly desirable gated manual transmission, and retained by the Factory during its early years for promotional purposes, this particularly appealing example combines modest mileage, a well-documented maintenance history, and a fascinating connection to Lamborghini itself.
