Description

Chassis No. ZA9DE07A0PLA12855

Roland Affolter emerged during the height of the 1990s supercar boom as one of the era's most audacious automotive tuners, catering to clients who found even Lamborghini's flagship Diablo insufficiently dramatic. His Swiss dealership, Garage R. Affolter, became synonymous with over-the-top modifications that pushed the boundaries of aerodynamic and technical engineering, ranging from aggressive, body-focused aero kits to wild GT1 builds-the latter adding a pair of turbochargers to the Diablo's mid-mounted V12 to deliver an outrageous 620 PS.

The "Evolution GTR" example presented here hails from the heyday of Affolter's audacious Swiss-market specials. Chassis number 12855 originally left the Sant'Agata factory on 31 March 1993, finished in Giallo Fly (Yellow) over Nero (Black) leather and was dispatched to Switzerland through Garage R. Affolter. The original warranty booklet records the first owner as Yakubowsky Stanislas of Zurich, with the warranty commencing on 3 April 1993. The Lamborghini was subsequently converted to Evolution GTR specification, gaining the bold aero elements that defined the package, including its fixed headlights, roof air intake, adjustable rear wing, sculpted bumpers and skirts, three-piece modular wheels, and quad exhaust outlets. Period imagery on file from June 2000 shows the Diablo finished in a vibrant metallic yellow resembling the OEM hue Giallo Spyder, adorned with "GTR" and "Garage R. Affolter" graphics on the nose and flanks and wearing Swiss plate "VD 87024." The interior appears to have been re-trimmed in two-tone black and white Alcantara, featuring "Evolution GTR" headrest embroidery.

In 2025, the Diablo received a complete cosmetic restoration, now presented in the highly desirable SE30 shade of Viola with a bold blue Alcantara cabin. Era-evoking color-matched "telephone-dial" wheels complement the look, giving the bespoke Diablo a concours-quality presence without diminishing its unmistakable late-'90s bravado. The car now shows 33,824 kilometers at the time of cataloging, and benefits from a recent full service completed by Lamborghini Porrentruy in preparation for the sale.

Based on the purest, rear-wheel drive iteration of the Diablo and transformed by Switzerland's most flamboyant tuning house, 12855 captures a uniquely period-correct breed of Diablo customization that collectors increasingly celebrate. Offered with its original leather owner's manual pouch, this Evolution GTR is freshly refinished, strikingly presented, and ready to delight marque enthusiasts on the show field and the open road alike.
