In 2016, the Lamborghini Diablo underwent a major engine-out overhaul by Auto Cura AB. The engine was removed from the car, dismantled and inspected, with the pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft and cylinder liners removed as part of the process. The work included cylinder-head machining, cam-bearing repairs, valve-seat machining, valve grinding, replacement valve seals and four valves, crankshaft correction, and the installation of numerous new internal components including timing chains, piston rings, main and con-rod bearings, con-rod bolts and a cylinder liner.

The engine was then reassembled, refitted to the car, started, checked and run in. Further work included throttle synchronisation, lambda-sensor and ignition-related repairs, as well as various ancillary mechanical rectifications. In short, this was a comprehensive engine rebuild carried out with the engine removed from the vehicle. At the same time, the differential was rebuilt, including new parts, oils, crownwheel and pinion-related work, followed by wheel alignment, inspection and associated rectification. The total recorded cost was SEK 456,359
