Over its 16-year production, the Lamborghini Countach went through several iterations to keep its place firmly on the walls of bedrooms worldwide. Its angular bodywork was nearly perfected with the arrival of the LP 400 S in 1978, but by this time other manufacturers were hot on the heels of the Countach and keen to take away its crown as the fastest supercar in the world.

The third-generation Countach debuted at the 1982 Geneva Motor Show with a revised 4.8-liter V12. With oversight from automotive engineering virtuoso and newly-appointed Lamborghini General Director Guilio Alfieri, the engine now produced 375 PS and 410 Nm of torque-now accessible earlier in the rev range at 7,000 rpm and 4,500 rpm respectively. This gave the new Countach a top speed of 293 km/h, which was verified in a legendary test conducted by Auto, Motor und Sport. The updated Countach featured subtle design enhancements including revised bodywork and a refreshed interior. Badged variously as the LP500 S, LP5000 S, or simply 5000 S, the new Countach was instantly desirable, with only 321 examples built worldwide.

Produced in April 1984, this 1984 Lamborghini Countach 5000 S was specified in Nero with Rosso leather seats and a Nero dashboard according to its included Lamborghini Historical Certification issued in 2014. The car was delivered new to SEA Auto Dealer in Rome, and shortly passed to its first recorded owner: Donna Liebrich, P.H.D. While some sources claim that the Countach was sold new to Dr. Liebrich in Italy, who then emigrated with it to the United States, email correspondence between Dr. Liebrich and the consignor reveals that she in fact purchased the Countach from a dealership in La Jolla, California. Here the car was shown and rallied throughout San Diego, and at one point was displayed at the San Diego Auto Museum, before Dr. Liebrich parted ways with the Italian supercar in 2008. The car is believed to have been owned by two additional American collectors before it was sold to Alberto Mantovani c. 2010, who refreshed its striking color combination with a respray and interior re-trim before reuniting the Countach with Italian soil at the end of 2010.

The consignor, based in France, acquired the Countach in 2014 and spent the following six years restoring it through Automobiles T.S. with work performed by noted Lamborghini specialist Tony Sisinni. Invoices on file spanning 2015 to 2021 reveal meticulous work performed on many of the Countach's mechanical systems, headlined by a new crankshaft and connecting rods in 2019 followed by a comprehensive engine overhaul in 2020. During this engine-out service, many new components were installed including fresh piston ring sets, main bearings, engine gaskets, and intake valves.

Upon completion of its extensive engine rebuild in July 2020, this example was displayed alongside several other outstanding Raging Bulls at the "Pop Lamborghini" Exhibition at the renowned Musée National de l'Automobile in Mulhouse, France.

Following 12 years of careful enjoyment, this 1984 Lamborghini Countach 5000 S is offered today with its tool roll and a vast history file highlighted by its Lamborghini Historical Certification, Italian registration documents from previous ownership, emails from its first long-term owner, and invoices from Automobiles T.S. and Provost Automobiles Le Mans totaling €57.976.
