The new 400 GT was named Islero, named after the famous fighting bull that killed the matador Manuel Rodriguez on 28 August 1947. The car inherited from the champion its deep black from the bull's coat as well as its cutting edge profile and curled up. Further development of the engine of the 400 GT, made the Islero particularly fast, especially in the S version, which appeared in 1969. The model came with the beautiful Miura type rims. An air outlet on the front fender distinguished the S from the first series, but it was not the only difference. The hood air intake was also enlarged and a flange on the wheel arches emphasized the design of the car's fenders. The finish was neat. The car's road-holding was even better thanks to a new rear suspension.

The Islero we are offering is a model sold new in the United States. The previous owner had acquired it in 1994 and sold it to the current owner in 2003. This splendid Islero S, painted black, has always been maintained and cherished. The current owner has redone the carburetors, the steering knuckles and replaced the exhaust system (to Ansa). The rear suspension springs have been re-made by a specialist and the brakes are brand new. The interior still has its original leather in parchment beige, with red piping and the headliner is in beige. It is equipped with a rare original sunroof, with manual control, while the tinted windows are electric. This coupe Islero S is more than a worthy successor to the 350 GT and the 400 GT, from which it took most of its mechanicals. Very lively and quick, especially in the S version, developing 350bhp and capable of reaching 250 km/h, it is a great acquisition and a rarity, given that only 100 were ever produced.
