Description

A sparkling, UK-supplied, RHD,Series II Interceptor finished in a super colour combinationFactory options include special interior colour, tinted glass, stereo upgrade and air conditioningSubject to a recent complete repaint in Aston Martin Meteor Grey. Smart17 alloysSuperbly presented special-order Oxblood Red interior with some subtle updatesAll works documented and completed bymarque specialists withreceipts and invoices on fileMoT Valid to 13th October 2021The Jensen Interceptor was a sporting GT-class car, hand-built in the UK by Jensen Motors between 1966 and 1976. The car broke withJensen tradition by having a steel body shell instead of a glass-reinforced plastic one and by having the body designed by an outside firm, Carrozzeria Touring of Italy, the firm more recognisably associated with the likes of Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Maserati and Alfa Romeo. The engine was a Chrysler V8, initially of 6276cc, with an optional manual transmission, but the more common choice was the TorqueFlite automatic transmission, and drive was via the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential and a conventional Salisbury rear axle. The Interceptor took its styling cues from the Brasinca Uirapuru, a little known Brazilian Coup, that sported adistinctive large, curving wrap-around rear window that doubled up as a tailgate. The original specification included electric windows, reclining front seats, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a radio with twin speakers, reversing lights and an electric clock. Power steering was included as standard from September 1968. The Mark II Interceptor was announced in October 1969 with revised frontal styling and vented disc brakes.Offered here is a spectacular UK-supplied, second series Jensen Interceptor presented in thelovely combination of Aston Martin Meteor Grey Metallic paintwork with a luxurious special order Oxblood Red leather interior. This example was first UK registered in July 1971 and had been specified from new with special interior colour, tinted glass, stereo upgrade and air conditioning. Our private vendor discovered this handsome Interceptor in 2019 and made the decision to set about a sympathetic restoration with the intention of preserving as much of the originality as possible. The aim was to achieve a finish that presented extremely well but retained the hallmarks of a gently aged and well looked after car.A highly regarded marque specialist was commissioned to complete a thorough schedule of works. These works included; removal of all doors and glass for a full body respray with all the lines and panel gaps corrected if necessary. Known troublesome areas such as the sills were removed and replaced. All rubber seals were renewed as well as a replacement windscreenprofessionally installed. The rear brakes and wheel bearings were replaced and the Jensen fitted with new period style 17 alloy wheels. We are informed that the car starts at the first turn of the key, runs very smoothly with good oil pressure, performs well and there are no untoward noises or knocking issues. The above schedule of work had been conducted with the intention of importing the Jensen into Australia however we are informed that a change in import laws has forced a change of plans. In summary, thisis a great opportunity to take ownership of a fine example that has recently benefitted from considerable renovations and is now beautifully finished in a colour that really suits the car and perfectly complements the original interior.Thehistory file containsrelated paperwork and invoices from the above-mentioned work, the V5c and a new MOT valid untilOctober 2020.You can now book a one-to-one appointment (up to one hour) to view this lot at our central location Monday to Friday between Thursday 29th October - 12th November.
