In 1996, Jaguar revived its iconic “XK” moniker for the long-awaited XJS replacement. The new XK was a significant leap forward for Jaguar’s flagship GT model and put Jaguar squarely back in the fight with the finest grand tourers. Offered as a coupe and a convertible, the XK was the first Jaguar to feature the 32-valve AJ V-8 engine, fitted to a substantially reworked chassis, shared with the Aston Martin DB7. Jaguar’s design director Geoff Lawson penned the sleek profile, which was fresh and modern, with subtle nods to Jaguars of the past.
