Description

Jaguar’s celebrated XK series, debuting in 1948 with the brilliant XK120, was constantly updated and improved in terms of speed, safety and comfort, culminating in the XK150, beginning in 1957. Toward the end of XK150 production, the 3.8-litre engine was introduced and, today, these rare variants are the most desirable to collectors.

This 1961 XK150 features Drophead Coupe coachwork and is one of just 586 XK150 Dropheads to receive the uprated 3.8-litre engine. According to its JDHT Certificate, chassis S838726DN departed the factory on March 11, 1960, finished in Pearl Grey paint, bound for Jaguar Cars of New York, and its first owner, Mr. C. Wallace. In 2006, Jaguar specialist Tom Krefetz of Classic Showcase in Southern California acquired the XK150 after 20 years of pursuit. Mr. Krefetz then conducted a restoration, refinishing the car in silver with a new black convertible top, additionally servicing its mechanicals.

The Jaguar was acquired by the consignor 15 years ago and has been enjoyed regularly. In 2018, he had the car fully repainted, and renewed much of the chrome, with mechanical tuning performed by noted specialist Dan Kelly. That year, the owner was honored to be invited to participate in the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance ® with the gleaming Jaguar, which performed flawlessly on the picturesque roads of the Monterey Peninsula and Big Sur. Accompanied by its JDHT Certificate, jack, and spare, this XK150 3.8-Litre is among the most desired of the line, and perfect for any weekend jaunt
