Designed to replace ""the most beautiful car in the world"", the XJ-S is the successor of the Jaguar Type-E. This new car takes the platform of the XJ sedan. It will first be powered by a V12 engine coupled to a 4-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission. At first, it will be criticized for its design. Moreover, its 5.3L engine arrived at the time of the oil crisis and thus had difficulty in making a place for itself at the beginning. However, the British manufacturer was able to benefit from advertisements offered by television series in which the first XJ-S appeared, such as ""The Return of the Saint"" or ""The New Avengers"". In 1991, the new face-lift version, signed by Ford, redesigned this beautiful car. It is also on this occasion that the model abandons the hyphen to be called the XJS. This car will now be powered by a 4.0 inline 6-cylinder engine producing 225 horsepower. The V12 will of course remain available. The bumpers are more aerodynamic. The XJS will be replaced by the XK8 in 1996, after 21 years of service and more than 113,000 units sold.
The XJS we present is in very nice condition, in its original configuration. The car has an unusual eggplant color and a genuine beige leather interior. It is powered by a 4.0L inline six cylinder engine, made reliable by Ford, which starts at a very fast pace. The car has been very well maintained by its current owner and comes with many options: 4-speed automatic transmission, power steering, air conditioning, air bag and original alloy wheels. It has 167,200 kilometers. Furthermore, this car comes with a file of invoices since its purchase in 1995."
