Originally released in 1975 to much fanfare for its eye-catching styling, remarkable comfort, and inspiring performance thanks to a 5.3 Liter V12, the Jaguar XJ-S (the dash in its name was eventually removed for the vehicle’s final re-design in May 1991) is a superlative machine to this day. Unfortunately, with the ongoing fuel crisis, the original XJ-S models were relatively slow sellers despite their acclaim.
Therefore, in 1981, Jaguar updated the vehicle with a “High-Efficiency” variant of the V12 which provided not only additional fuel economy, but also more horsepower (up to 263hp for the US market). There were also styling changes both in and out, including body-color trim, new wheels, additional wood accents, and so on to lead the car into the eighties. In addition, a 3.6L inline-6 became available in 1983 for those who wished for the XJ-S' style and luxury without the extra costs associated with the V12.
The Classic Collection package, available only in the US, added special paint colors, exclusive Lace Honeycomb alloy wheels, gold-toned badging, and chrome trim around the quad headlamps in addition to special Elm burl wood trim and higher-quality leather in Magnolia or Doeskin with contrasting piping. This came in at a cost of around $4,000 more than the regular model and added to standard features such as power accessories, an automatic transmission, and, of course, a V12.
This sensational 1991 Jaguar XJ-S Classic Collection Convertible is finished in gorgeous Diamond Blue Metallic with a stunning Magnolia leather interior and a Dark Blue convertible top. This exquisite motorcar has meticulously maintained and driven a mere 38,458 miles from new! Accompanying this collector series Jaguar arts original owner's manual, spare, jack, and clean CarFAX. We are proud to offer this investment-grade Jaguar XJ-S Convertible to the most sophisticated collector, investor, or enthusiast who appreciates the investment potential of this rare, iconic model.
