Succeeding the legendary Jaguar E Type was not easy, but the XJS presented in 1975 did well, with a very distinctive design and a personality that was oriented towards grand touring. Powered by a superb 5.3-litre V12 which had made its debut on the E-Type Series 3, it offered high-level performance combined with comfort and quiet operation that its predecessor did not have. Its main fault, high fuel consumption, was erased in 1981 with the "High Efficiency" version, equipped with new cylinder heads designed by Michael May. This car received a very luxurious finish, with electrically operated leather seats. In the convertible version, it was a particularly pleasant car to use because it provided a quiet drive on the narrower sunny roads, while being able to cover long distances at sustained speed with a torque that provided exceptional flexibility. Sold new in 1990 in the United States in Minneapolis in this superb, elegant color configuration, with light brown, natural leather interior, the example on offer was re-imported into Europe and received a Dutch registration in 2012. The odometer shows 15,660 miles, which explains the impeccable cosmetic condition of this two-seater Jaguar convertible. This is a highly collectible automobile, delivered with its full kit of booklets and other manuals.
