Description
"In 1975, the 21-year production life of the Jaguar XJS was testament to the excellence of its basic design. With all round independent, coil-sprung suspension, rack and pinion steering and disc brakes, its excellent ride/handling balance was justly praised by the contemporary motoring press. The XJS's superlative 5.3 litre developed some 295bhp in later fuel injected form and, when allied to automatic transmission, gave authoritative 150mph performance. The targa element of the car was often preferred over the straight convertible as it added more torsional rigidity and so increased performance.
First registered on 27th January 1988, this example of the XJS cabriolet is presented in Westminster Blue with Doeskin hide. It has recently been recommissioned as the previous owner had to relinquish his licence due to ill health. During this process, the fuel rail and injectors were tested and rebuilt and, we are informed, that the car now runs well. We are also told that the speedo was changed in 2009. This Jaguar would benefit from some cosmetic tidying but forms a very usable XJS-Cand comes supplied with a history file containing a good record of bills together with an original book pack. Providing a great starting point for a collectable variant of the Jaguar XJS, this is a car that can be improved upon but can also be used and enjoyed - especially with the targa tops out.
