Description

VEHICLE HISTORY: The Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas offered in the Ardor Auctions sale is a very interesting example. The car was first registered on 2 January 1984 in Switzerland. The car had one owner in Switzerland until 2007, when it was imported into Poland. The current Polish owner is the second owner. The Swiss maintenance log records odometer readings up to 139 000 km. The current odometer reading is 158 000 km. The Jaguar is powered by an inline 6-cylinder engine with the displacement of 4.2 litre and 205 horsepower. This was the first model to feature fuel injection. The powertrain was the longest manufactured Jaguar's engine and remained in production from late 1940s until mid 1980s. The engine was deemed the best and most reliable Jaguar engine in history by the high-profile Top Gear magazine. The car had a full mechanical inspection in 2016. The only faulty components are the cruise control (a typical weak point of that model) and front light sprinklers. In 2013, the Jaguar received some body repairs and in 2017, a new paint job. The entire chassis was repainted at an auto body shop that specialises in vintage cars. The interior features original upholstery, in a generally good condition, with repairs needed in some places. This high-end Vanden Plas version has a number of pleasantly surprising features such as automatic air-conditioning, electric operation of all windows, mirrors and front seats, sunroof and special reading lights. The extra accessories also include fog lights and an automatically retractable rear antenna. The car won a honourable mention at the "Auto Nostalgia 2017" Warsaw vintage car fair.

MODEL HISTORY: The Jaguar XJ has been the Jaguar's flagship model. The XJ launched as the successor to the series of S-Type, 420 and Mark 2 models. The name was devised at the prototype stage and stands for „Experimental Jaguar". The original model of the Jaguar XJ was last Jaguar saloon to have had the input of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder. The model has been often featured in media, in particular in high-profile magazines as well as movies and TV series portraying the life of the wealthy elite and aristocracy. Prior to 2009, seven generations of the model were introduced, featuring only minor changes to the bodylines of the original model. In 2009, Jaguar launched the latest, eighth generation of the XJ (X351), which, in line with the company's latest direction, broke from the previous retro styling. The latest XJ is one of the cars used by the British royal family and an armoured version is used for transporting the UK Prime Minister. The Jaguar XJ is a high-end luxury (F-segment) saloon car. The numbers 6 or 12 in the model's name stand for the number of cylinders in the featured engine. A separate sports model is designated XJ-S.
