No. 279

Absolute rarity

At the beginning of the development phase, a V12 and four-wheel drive were planned.

However, these plans were discarded for weight reasons and a V6 biturbo was used, which was revolutionary at the time, and a rear-wheel drive.
The first deliveries were made in July 1992, and among the first customers were the musician Elton John and the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei, who was well known as a car collector.

Andy Wallace achieved a top speed of 212.3 mph (341.6 km/h) in test drives at the Firestone test track at Fort Stockton in Texas in 1991, and in later tests at the high-speed Nardò track in 1992.

The Jaguar was the most expensive production car in the world, costing from DM 1,100,000.

To boost sales, three XJ 220s competed in the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1993.

Our car is no. 279 and was originally bought by an Austrian in 1993. He did not drive the car until the current owner bought it in 1999.
The current owner has always moved the car with care, which means that the XJ220 is now presented in a condition as if it had come straight from the shop.
The Jaguar has been fully documented, regularly serviced and meticulously maintained.
At present, you will probably not find a better vehicle on the open market.
