The XJ6 was build as a fully aluminium body and chassis, and this construction was among the first in mass production for the automotive industry. The body was no less than 40% lighter and 50% stiffer than its predecessor.

The suspension of the car was also striking, adaptive air suspension with level control on all four wheels. This made the car drive fantastic. Production ran from 2002 to 2009 and this was the last Jaguar model built at the Browns Lane Coventry factory.
