Description
The X-Type was launched in June 2001 as a saloon car. It was Jaguar's first mid-range vehicle. The design was based on the CDW27 floor pan of the 2001 Ford Mondeo. Using this platform allowed for cost-effective, high-quality production compared to Jaguar's own mid-range platform. In order not to stray (entirely) from the brand's signature rear-wheel drive, the X-Type was initially launched exclusively with all-wheel drive. Early on, Jaguar had to deal with accusations of badge engineering regarding the X-Type, but in this case, they were unfounded. Despite some of the technology being shared with the Ford Mondeo, all parts were developed specifically for Jaguar. The X-Type on offer, with a 195 hp 2.5-litre V6 engine and automatic gearbox, was delivered new to Switzerland, first registered on 29 June 2006 and handed over to its first owner on 30 June. The Sovereign high-end version of the saloon cost around CHF 60’000. It was equipped with all-wheel drive, fine leather, heated front seats, an electric sunroof, electric windows, air conditioning and a hi-fi system with Bluetooth hands-free kit. After presumably two changes of ownership, in 2018 and 2021, the Jaguar was taken over at the end of 2024 by the consignor – a fan of the Coventry-based brand. He used the X-Type as a winter vehicle and is now selling it due to lack of space. With 140’700 kilometers on the clock and a complete service booklet, the car is in good original condition. In addition to the fitted 16-inch winter wheels, a set of 17-inch summer wheels is included with the vehicle. The most recent MOT was performed in October 2024, which means the Jaguar can be registered immediately until the end of the month.
