Description

The Jaguar Mark V was unveiled to the public at the 1948 London Motor Show, sharing the stand with the all new Jaguar XK120. During its 3 year production run only 10,499 cars were built in both saloon and drophead configuration.
Power came from either a 2.5 litre 6-cylinder engine or the top of the range 125bhp, 3.5 litre unit, which in turn could propel its four occupants onto 90mph top speed. The cars styling followed the pre-war SS-Jaguar lines with an upright chrome grille and leaping radiator cap. Other notable features included 7.7” Lucas lights along with flip-out trafficators and rear wheel spats.

The Jaguar Mark V 3.5 litre Drophead Coupe offered here at Autostorico is a 1951 registered car, finished in Black with Red interior leather trim. One of only eight examples exported to New Zealand this stunning example was first registered to Mrs Hope of Te Puke. It spent the following years laid up in the northern region before being discovered in 1994 in a barn in Taupu. Its owner then undertook a no expense spared nut and bolt restoration, which was carried out by the well-known and respected Jaguar specialist Steve Roberts of Wanganui. Works included removing the engine and gearbox and stripping the whole body, before a bare metal respray was carried out. The car was also subject to a full mechanical overhaul including engine, gearbox, and suspension rebuild. Other notable works included new interior Connolly trim and new Grey convertible hood.

Supplied with a current V5 registration document, fully documented photographic restoration booklet, various invoices and other related history.
A comfortable conveyance for four easily capable of cruising at the legal limit, this elegant MK V Drophead Coupé embodies the 'Grace, Space and Pace' forever associated with Jaguar.
