The Jaguar Mk 2, presented in 1959, is considered one of the first true sports saloons providing excellent performance with its advanced chassis, disc brakes on all four wheels, its compact dimensions and the very strong inline-6-cylinder engine. No wonder the British police took a liking to the Jaguar Mk 2. Jaguar Expert and author Nigel Thornley assumes that 80% of all English constabularies had at least one Jaguar limousine at their disposal. Even the Swiss motorway police resorted to the rapid Mk2 to chase speeding motorists. The car offered, with its 3.4 litre engine delivering 210 horsepower coupled to a 4-speed gearbox with overdrive, is a Swiss delivery and was first registered on the 30th of November 1966. According to the information available, the saloon was de-registered already in 1969 and then stored for 33 years. In 2002 the Jaguar, with then around 40’000 kilometres driven, was rescued followed by a complete restoration. In November 2003, the beautiful Brit arrived with the vendor who since then has covered around 20’000 kilometres with the car whilst making sure it was regularly and carefully maintained. So, in 2009, the brake servo was replaced and the front brake calipers were overhauled, in 2013, the radiator was overhauled, in 2017 – about 5’000 km ago – the clutch was replaced, and in 2025, the body was partially repainted and the rear shock absorbers were replaced. With only three registered owners and apparently only 59’000 kilometres driven, the Mk 2 is in very good overall condition and will be handed over to a new enthusiast with its latest Veteran MOT from March 2025.
