Jaguar's first monocoque sedan was born in 1955 with the beautiful XK engine downsized to 2.4 l. It was the 2.4 l Saloon. The car was beautiful and successful, and an instant hit. This bewitching novelty made a clean break with the past: it was feline, low-slung and racy. At the very beginning of 1957, a new version was offered with the 3.4 l engine, which transformed the model in terms of both performance and driving pleasure. On October 2, 1959, on the Jaguar stand at Earl's Court, William Lyons was delighted. He presented his new mount: the Jaguar Mk.II. The level of finish is identical, with precious woodwork and high-quality leather, but the real novelty comes from the light. By slimming all the window pillars, brightness has made a dazzling entrance into the cabin. The overall line is lighter. Under the hood, there are three options: the 2.4 l, 3.4 l or 3.8 l engine, all with 6 cylinders and double overhead camshafts. Once again, a total success, and the Mk II line will be remembered by all as one of the brand's most beautiful cars, the true sports sedan!
This is one of the most desirable Jaguar Mk.IIs. Indeed, it is in remarkable condition both aesthetically and mechanically. Registered on May 18, 1963, this Mk.II is presented in an elegant English green paint scheme, with a beige leather interior. During its lifetime, the sedan was also equipped with four electric windows, power steering and air conditioning. It was fully restored in 1990 by S.A.O. A quality restoration, as attested by a 2011 appraisal. Nevertheless, for the sake of detail, it passed into the hands of Parisian specialist Montmartre Automobiles for extensive work. It received a new paint job, much of the chrome was redone or replaced, and the mechanicals were completely overhauled (gaskets, fuel pump, radiator), all for a total bill of over 19,000 euros. Acquired by the current owner in 2018, this car is one of the most beautiful and enjoyable Jaguar MK2s we've sold in recent years. Used by Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent for many years. It represents an exceptional opportunity for any enthusiast of the brand.
