This V12 E-Type is astonishing, as it's been modified at great expense in order for its current usage to be optimal when driving. Located in the United States in the 1980s, it was then imported to Belgium in 1990 and bought by our collector in 2002. He wanted it to be a fast and comfortable driving machine and ordered a Toyota Supra 5-speed gearbox installation kit from the company Conversion Components in New Zealand, invoiced at more than 8,000 HZD. The car's file contains letters, invoices and documentation about this conversion, which was then carried out by VB Classic Cars based in Zemst who also took care of other restoration works. The front tubular cradle (the famous Eiffel Tower) has been replaced by a chrome component and the engine had a light preparation, powered by 6 Weber carburettors. Several improvements were made in terms of performance, safety and comfort such as the modern air conditioning and a Kenwood car radio complemented with a powerful amplifier and two rear speakers. At the end of the restoration, a dynamometer test made it possible to measure a power of 300 hp below 3,000 rpm, which reveals a lot about the available torque. The restoration cost exceeds the actual value of the car, which should attract more than one enthusiast eager to drive a powerful and comfortable machine, equipped with a manual gearbox which makes it even more special.
